Review of The Fault in Our Stars! *may contain spoilers!*
I thought I'd kick off this blog with a review of the amazing 'The Fault in Our Stars' movie and book by the legend, John Green. I know that some of you are probably sick and tired of hearing about The Fault in Our Stars and think it's getting more publicity than it deserves, but I think it's amazing!
I read the book around a year ago and I read it before I'd heard anything about it because I just saw it in the bookshop and apparently it was fairly popular. Not knowing what I was diving in to, I innocently opened the book and began reading. To say I'm quite a slow reader (though I do love reading!) I zoomed through this book within a few hours. There were happy moments, sad moments, funny moments and I was truly on a roller-coaster of emotions, though not a roller-coaster that only goes up! I think it is truly a work of genius with such complicated yet understandable words and phrases.
As soon as there was news of this new movie coming out, I was sooo excited! When the casting came out I was a little disappointed, only because some of the characters were a little different to how I had imagined them in the book. For example, Augustus. Nevertheless, I couldn't wait. When the trailer came out, I was then contemplating whether or not to watch the movie, as the trailer seemed fast pace and a little cheesy. As over here in the UK the movie came out only last Thursday, I saw quite a few reviews which said the movie was awful, cheesy and ruined the book. Even though I saw these, I trusted John Green's opinion on the movie and went and saw it, and let me tell you, I was so glad I decided to go see it! Yes, I did cry, and so did everyone else in the cinema. I thought the trailer showed the film in quite a bad light and didn't really do it many favours. I liked how they showed you the Anne Frank house and they copied the scenes quite well from the book. Of course, there were a few scenes cut off, but if they did everything exactly like the book, it'd be like 4 hours rather than 2! I thought they did the pre-funeral bit very well and was almost exactly like the book, and yes that is the bit I cried at, and I am not ashamed! I enjoyed this film thoroughly. When it comes out on DVD, I will be buying it!
I give this film 4 and 1/2 stars. It was a great film but did have some slightly cheesy bits!

Thanks for reading, hope you liked this review, if you want more in the future, let me know and leave suggestions for things you'd like me to review!
